The Blaze 94 is what we like to call “sporty”. It delivers on many levels, but it is made for the high octane delight of a skier that loves to turn on a dime, in every type of terrain. The 0.3mm thick layer of titanal across the binding platform creates an impressively direct power transfer from skier movement to ski action. Keeping the titanal only under the foot creates an incredibly fun and responsive turning experience, immediately from initiation, with little effort.
Although it is designed with short turn radius goals, the 4 Radius Drive Sidecut and Hybrid Multilayer Woodcore / Green Core significantly enhances the ski's liveliness and maneuverability for any turn shape. At only a very low weight and with the addition of the Suspension Tip and Tail (basically a rubbery “bumper” for whatever the ski comes in contact with), it is a fantastic touring ski as well. Regardless of resort skiing glory, off piste endeavors, or backcountry objectives, the Blaze 94 offers an incredibly wide range of use in all conditions.
Features
- 4 Radius Drive - A Völkl innovation not yet offered by any other manufacturer. With this technology, Völkl sets a new benchmark for the ability to vary the turn radius and combine easy handling with rock-solid stability. This new design provides maximum versatility for various snow conditions both on piste and off piste, increased stability on hard surfaces, and improved performance on soft snow.
- Hybrid Multilayer Wood Core 1 - A particularly light and complex wood core specially developed for touring skis. In the area around the steel edges, a poplar wood hand-picked by weight provides the necessary stability, while in the center of the ski, the soft and light Paulownia wood ensures the ski's flexibility. In the binding area beech wood provides the strength, which is needed to hold the screws of the binding. In the center of the core, a CNC-milled Isocore area contributes to optimal liveliness and dynamic development. Only the lightest batch of each wood delivery makes it into these cores.
- P-Tex 2100 Base - A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability.
- Full Sidewall - Direct and strong power transmission with full length sidewalls.
- Titanal Binding Platform - A thin Titanal layer (0,3 mm) under the binding delivers the necessary strength to the ski. This way the binding screws offer reliable hold even in the toughest conditions.
- Tip & Tail Rocker - Bends up only in the shovel and tail zones, with a camber shape in the middle.
- Suspension Tips & Tails - Inserts made of elastic TPU material on the edges of the tip and tail which act like a bumper in wind-blown or tracked snow. Its shock-absorbing elasticity ensures better stability and catch-free float.
- 3D Glass - Compared to classic glass constructions the three-dimensional and multiple-folded glass layers in the tip and in the tail area result in an increased edge grip and a more vivid rebound behavior in turns. 1 3D.GLASS IS INTEGRATED IN THE TIP AND TAIL OF THE SKI // flat glass under the binding making the center softer // variable turning at any speed 2 GLASS ABOVE THE SIDEWALL //providing additional support for superior edge grip on icy slopes 3 VERTICAL GLASS IN TIP & TAIL AREA //more pop for faster edge to edge change.
